Curiosity kills the accident victims
Posted by: panadol227
Whenever there is an accident on the road, lots of cars will be slowing down at that point of the road to curiously 'care' about what had happened. Unknown to them, they are making a very serious offence, which can be summarized as road-hogging.
Whenever they slow down their vehicles, it would create a chain reaction causing a standstill for cars a few kilometres down the road. This would create an unnecessary traffic congestion, resulting in time, energy wasted for the driver on the road. Worst still, sometimes, even vehicles at the other side of the road also slow down, resulting massive jams over both sides of the road.
Beside that, when the eyes of the driver or motorcyclists are not fix on the road, there are bound to be other low velocity accidents as well, causing unnecessary injuries.
All that above may seem trivial, but unknown to them, in most scenes of accidents, there will inevitably be lots of casualty of the accident which required urgent help from the wreckage or medical assistance/resuscitation. With all this traffic jam or road hogging, plus some vehicles even use the emergency lane, it is almost impossible for the ambulance or fire engine to arrive at the scene in time (unless the ministry of health had decided to fix wings into all ambulance in Malaysia).
Thus, the blood of dead casualties of accident is splattered all over the hands of drivers who decided to slow down and relieve their curiosity. The Malaysian traffic police force, too, share a fair amount of responsibility (and blood on their hands as well) as they are the one that should ensure a good flow of traffic and slapped those road hoggers with hefty fine. The traffic police may not catch all the curious culprits, but at least, this would serve as a reminder to the rest. They should never spare the rod and spoil the child as many lives are at stake.
All this is not a new phenomenon, and have been going on for ages, I urge the traffic police force to take instant action before the public begins to doubt your competency and common sense in this life-saving affair
